Several angry protesters from the National Timber, Wood, Construction and Allied Workers Union (NTWCAWU), have gathered in front of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.
The workers, who have turned aggrieved, have demanded Finance Minister Augustine Ngafuan to release their salary arrears and benefits.
The aggrieved workers claimed that the ministry owed them money for several years, but Ngafuan has reneged.
They chanted anti-Ngafuan slogans: The protesters claimed that among the Ministry 23,452 workers, the Ministry owes US$7,122,112 money they said, has been outstanding for over ten years.
“Ngafuan is wicked; he is a greedy minister. The President told him to give us our money, but he wants to use it on his children,” one angry protester alleged.
They have vowed to sleep in front of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning until they receive their money.
“Ngafuan is a big rogue, a very big rogue. He thinks we don’t know his corrupt attitude. He is a stingy Gbandi man,” several angry protesters chanted.
While Mr. Ngafuan is yet to respond to the allegation, some of the aggrieved workers have meanwhile, appreciated Pres. Boakai for considering them, yet they decried Ngafuan for ‘refusing to give us our money.”
