Residents of the infamous ‘540’ otherwise called, Peace Island community, have queried about endurance in a poorly managed wastes disposal and sanitation space.
As the result, residents claimed that uncollected dirt now litter along the road, which has become a little ‘mountain of ants’ hill garbage.’
Some residents claimed that the wastes’ situation has caused serious health-related anomalies for inhabitants, who continuously inhale the stinks.
The wastes are reported mainly along the tar-road just adjacent to the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf (EJS) Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, where the ‘mountain’ is located.
For that reason, some of the residents have meanwhile, complained that their attempts for authority intervention have fallen on death ears.
They also grumbled that the dirt has formed environments for mosquitoes, cock-roaches and rodents; a condition which they say, threatens their healthy survival.
They have called on the government to create avenue for appropriate waste disposal that would be properly managed, thus discontinuing the garbage menace.
Community dwellers want the government to find a lasting solution to the problem as fast as possible, “because improperly disposed compost have over taken the entire stretch of road thereby narrowing it for commuters.”
