In the case that involves former Finance Minister, Samuel Tweah and others took a dramatic turn on Tuesday, July 21, when Criminal Court ‘C’ Judge Ousman F. Feika, ordered all the 15 jurors arrested forthwith for contempt of court.
Feika also ordered their incarceration at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP), and that they should be turned over to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for prosecution.
They are charged for ‘gross jury tampering and jury misconduct’ in a jury tampering saga.
Judge Feika revealed how the call-log analysis showed that multiple cell phones, and SIM cards, were taken into the jury quarters by jurors, and used to make and receive cells as well as sent and received text messages during the period of sequestration.
He said, the entire jury panel sequestered to hear the evidence in the case from which the affidavits arose were all connected to the act.
Feika however revealed how the previous acquittal verdict for weah, is accordingly set aside, and a new trial is ordered.
He said, the trial from which the verdict arose is hereby declared a “mistrial.”
Judge Feika noted that most jurors took cell phones and SIM cards into the jury quarters, despite clear instructions that they were “prohibited from doing so.”
He stated that the number 0886500698 contacted almost all of the jurors during the period of sequestration, and also contacted relatives of the jurors.
Judge Feika furthered stated that another number 0886500689, was in regular contact with most jurors, primarily through text messages.
He meanwhile, noted that those numbers have been subpoenaed, and the true owner must be identified and subjected to investigation and penalties.
Jurors Johnathan Bundo, Arnold Vincent, and Maximum Dillon, coordinated telephone calls and text messages between persons outside the jury quarters and jurors inside the quarters.
Other telephone numbers also appeared in the call logs of certain jurors during the sequestration period, either as numbers that called jurors or sent text messages to them.
Those numbers have been subpoenaed from the relevant mobile telephone company for analysis, and for any further action consistent with law.
Judge Feika said, the persons associated with telephone numbers that made call to, received calls from, or sent text messages to jurors while they were sequestered shall be identified, arrested and prosecuted together with the jurors for jury tampering, where supported by the evidence.
He further said, the evidence having established gross jury tampering and misconduct and the jury’s conduct were contaminated and tainted the verdict returned on May 8, 2026.
