Public criticism against Bong County Senator Johnny Kpehe, has grown rapidly as angry residents continue to condemn the controversial roundabout project constructed opposite the Liberia National Police station in Gbarnga.
Residents described the project as wasteful, unnecessary, and completely disconnected from the urgent realities facing ordinary citizens.
The project, which was reportedly intended to beautify the area surrounding the police station, has instead, triggered outrage and disappointment among many residents. As such, some of them expressed he sentiment that Sen. Kpehe has failed to focus on the county most serious development challenges.
Other residents say, while communities continue to suffer from damaged roads, poor healthcare services, struggling schools, unemployment, and growing hardship, Kpehe chose to spend time and resources on a “meaningless decoration.”
Despite reports that the roundabout has already been completed, the project is yet be dedicated.
Kpehe’s office has refused to publicly disclose the total amount spent on the project.
The silence has fueled suspicion and intensified public anger, with many people questioning why a project supposedly meant to serve the public is surrounded by secrecy?
Residents openly accused Kpehe of “misplaced priorities, and political showmanship.”
They meanwhile, argued that the project represents another example of leadership that focuses more on appearance than real impact.
Critics say, the roundabout has added little value to the lives of struggling families, and has instead, become a symbol of public frustration and failed leadership.
