The National Road Fund (NRF) has donated several road maintenance tools and equipment to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in Maryland County, southeastern Liberia, in support of the Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) Program. The initiative focuses on road maintenance and roadside brushing activities across Liberia.
The materials were presented to the Maryland County Administration by Mr. Orondo F. Armah, Assistant Minister for Technical Services at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Armah said the donation aims to empower community-based organizations to effectively carry out routine road maintenance and ensure the sustainability of feeder roads and community access routes within the county. He emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s ongoing effort to decentralize road maintenance activities and promote local ownership.
He reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to working closely with local authorities and community groups to maintain and improve Liberia’s expanding road network.
The items donated include 50 cutlasses, 5 rakes, 30 wheelbarrows, 53 pairs of safety rain boots, 50 pairs of hand gloves, 53 safety vests, 10 road signs, 2 motorbikes, and 1 signboard.
Receiving the tools, Maryland County Superintendent, Henry Cole expressed gratitude to the National Road Fund and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for their continued support toward community development. He assured that the items would be properly utilized to enhance road connectivity and accessibility within the county.
