NPP Chairman Frowns At Boakai, But
The National Chairman of the National Patriotic Party of Liberia, Atty. George Sylvester Mulbah, has criticized the Boakai-led regime for what he described as the administration’s refusal to reconcile with major opposition figures in the country.
According to him, much has not been done by the Unity Party-led regime in recognizing the importance of major opposition figures and their contributions to national peace building and unity.
He wondered why opposition figures have not been seen at National gatherings “on the invitation of President Boakai or the government, ” something he said undermines the democratic process of the state, with a call for the Liberian leader to reconcile with the opposition.
The NPP National Chairman wants President Boakai to lead a holistic reconciliation process that would include major opposition figures like former President George Weah, Alexander Cummings of the Alternative National Congress, Benoni Urey of the All Liberian Party, among others, citing their importance to national peace building and development.
Meanwhile, Atty. Mulbah has also acknowledged the administration’s ongoing efforts in the development of the country, especially in the areas of infrastructure, agriculture and education.
He believed the government is significantly delivering on its promises in these sectors, for instance, he highlighted the ongoing road expansion and pavement of the Roberts International Airport Highway, improvements on the Southern corridor, the pavement of fielder roads in Montserrado and Margibi Counties and major improvements in the agriculture and education sectors.
Despite these efforts by the government, Atty. Mulbah believes when President Boakai rallies the opposition community, the government stands to do more in delivering on its campaign promises in the interest of the country.
