Heath authorities in Monrovia have debunked social media speculation about the presence of Ebola in Liberia.
The Ministry of Health in collaboration with NPHIL and the John F. Kennedy Medical Center (JFKMC), has officially stated that there are currently no suspected, probable, or confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Liberia.
This announcement comes in response to a wave of misinformation circulating on social media platforms, which has raised concerns among the public.
In a press release, issue over the weekend health authorities highlighted the importance of remaining calm and avoiding the spread of unverified information that may induce unnecessary panic.
“We encourage the public to refrain from giving credence to misleading reports that serve only to attract social media attention,” the statement read.
The Ministry of Health reminded citizens that the official channels for disease reporting and communication in Liberia are the Ministry itself and NPHIL.
