Moye Warns ‘New’ Immigration Officers

By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye has called on the 424 newly graduated officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) to reject corruption.

Moye, instead, wants the ‘new’ officers to uphold integrity and serve as disciplined defenders of the borders.

He said, the credibility of the nation depends on the officers’ conduct at every place of assignment, whether at checkpoints or anywhere they are assigned.

Moye spoke at the 8th graduation ceremony of the LIS Regional Security Hub in Gbarnga, Bong County, on Monday, June 30, 2026.

He described the event, not only as a completion of the training, but as the beginning of national responsibility for the young officers entrusted to man the borders.

He emphasized the need for immigration officers to recognize their role as the first person of contact whenever an individual from the outside world entered the country.

Moye therefore, urged the officers must demonstrate professionalism, fairness and respect in the discharge of their duties to strengthen national image and attract investment.

He further cautioned against corruption, which he described as a threat to national security and development.

Moye urged the graduates to remember that “every bribe accepted weakens public trust, and undermines the rule of law at the borders.”

The graduation marks a significant boost in LIS’ manpower as the institution continues efforts to strengthen border security and enhance professional standards.

A representative of the graduating class, pledged commitment to the principles of discipline and integrity.
