The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC), has officially deployed 35 interns.

The interns are under government’s Young Professional Internship Program, which is an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance.

The interns, carefully selected through a ‘competitive vetting process’ from high schools, colleges, and universities across the country, will serve for four months in LWSC’s five key divisions.

The divisions are, Administration, Management, Technical Services, Finance, Sales and Marketing.

At the official deployment ceremony on Monday, September 15, LWSC Deputy Managing Director for Administration, T. Wilson Gaye, spoke of the program importance, noting that it bridges the gap between classroom knowledge and workplace application.

Gaye described the initiative as vital in preparing young Liberians to play meaningful roles in the nation development.

LWSC Managing Director, Mohammed Ali, also welcomed the interns, encouraged them to embrace the opportunity with professionalism and commitment.

“We are excited to have you join us,” Ali told the interns to a round of applause.

“This is a chance to gain hands-on experience that will shape your career paths and possibly open doors to future opportunities.”

On behalf of her colleagues, one of the interns, expressed gratitude to the government and LWSC for creating a pathway that provides young people with practical exposure in public service.

The Young Professional Internship Program is part of a broader government’s effort to build human capacity by equipping students with workplace experience, discipline and skills necessary for the job market.

The initiative, officials say, is designed to ensure that every Liberians are given the space to contribute meaningfully to national growth and development.
