The Liberia Special Economic Zones Authority (LSEZA) has intensified efforts to attract foreign direct investment. For that, LSEZA has showcased the agro-industrial potential at the Liberia-Nigeria Trade and Investment Forum 2026, held in Lagos, Nigeria. The high-level forum, was held under the theme: “Building Bridges for Shared Prosperity through Trade, Investment and Regional Integration.” It brought together government officials, investors, development partners, and private sector leaders from Liberia and Nigeria to strengthen bilateral trade and investment cooperation.
LSEZA Project Manager for Project Implementation Unit (PIU), William K.C. Kawalawu, and Director of Regulations and Legal Affairs, Attorney Ebenezer M. Wilson presented Liberia’s investment opportunities, with emphasis on the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Project. The delegation outlined the project’s potential to transform the agricultural sector through value addition, agro-processing, job creation and enhanced export competitiveness.
They further highlighted the investment incentives available under the Special Economic Zones framework, emphasizing the country’s investor-friendly policies and ongoing efforts to establish modern industrial hubs. A key feature of the presentation was the importance of the Agriculture Transformation Centers (ATCs), which are expected to serve as the link between farmers and agro-processing industries within the SAPZ.
The centers will improve farmers’ access to markets, boost agricultural productivity, and ensure a steady supply of raw materials for processing industries.
The Forum also provided an opportunity for the LSEZA delegation to engage potential investors and technical partners, explore strategic partnerships that could accelerate the implementation of the Special Economic Zones agenda, while they advance regional integration and economic cooperation in West Africa.
LSEZA reaffirmed its commitment to position Liberia as a competitive destination for investment by fostering partnerships that promote industrialization, agricultural transformation, sustainable economic growth and job creation.
LSEZA is the statutory agency responsible to develop, promote and manage Special Economic Zones to attract investment, stimulate industrial development, and create sustainable employment opportunities.
