LRRRC Addresses Influx Of Burkinabes

Jeror Cole Bangalu, Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), has pledged the Commission’s commitment to address the rising influx of Burkinabes.

Bangalu made the statement over the weekend in Congo Town at a ceremony where the Commission received a 20-seater bus, a pickup truck, four motorbikes, laptops, and other essential logistics from the office of the president.

He said, the logistics will enhance field monitoring, emergency response, and community outreach efforts, particularly in hard-to-reach areas to facilitate better mobility for staff.

Additionally, the Commission received six workstations, a large television for training and presentations, and various computing devices to improve data management and analysis.

Bangalu highlighted the significance of the support, adding: “It comes at a critical time when the LRRRC is expanding responsibilities under Executive Order #159.”

He acknowledged government’s backing, and assured that the resources would be utilized responsibly and transparently to further the Commission’s mission.

Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Samuel Stevquoah, reiterated President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s commitment to governance and migration management.

Stevquoah said, government’s support to the Commission reflects it dedication to protect “vulnerable populations.” “This support will enhance our operational capacity to address issues affecting refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons and migrants.

Today’s gesture is not just an investment in logistic, but a commitment to our people and a reinforcement of the President’s vision of building stronger institutions that effectively serve Liberians.”

Stevquoah said, the initiative is expected to improve LRRRC’s ability to address emerging migration realities, and respond effectively to the needs of refugees and internally displaced persons.

As the Commission prepares to implement the resources, government said, it aims to continue focusing on humanitarian efforts, and ongoing support for the most “vulnerable citizens.”
