The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has announced a remarkable achievement in the nation’s financial performance, reporting that it has already exceeded 70 percent of its 2025 domestic revenue target.
LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah spoke at the Ministry of Information on Thursday, September 11, 2025, regular Pres brief in Monrovia.
Jallah disclosed that as of September 8, the Authority collected US$562.1 million, surpassing its projection of US$552.8 million by nearly US$9 million.
He credited the accomplishment to ongoing reforms and the adoption of innovative technology-driven systems such as electronic fiscal devices, which have significantly improved efficiency, transparency, and accountability in tax administration.
“This progress is the result of deliberate reforms and the use of technology to strengthen revenue collection for the good of our country,” Jallah said.
The 2025 national budget stands at US$880 million, with US$804 million expected to be generated from domestic revenue.
The LRA’s early success in surpassing projections is seen as a positive sign of government’s strengthened ability to mobilize resources to support national development priorities.
The Authority has also highlighted its commitment to maintaining integrity in revenue administration, with strong internal mechanisms aimed at protecting taxpayers’ contributions and ensuring that every dollar collected serves the Liberian people.
Stakeholders and analysts have commended the LRA for demonstrating resilience, innovation, and dedication to its mandate, noting that the institution’s continued success is vital to Liberia’s economic growth and stability
Mr. Jallah notes that the LRA’s strong performance “is not just about number’, but about building trust and ensuring that Liberia has the resources it needs to develop.”LRA) has announced a remarkable achievement in the nation’s financial performance, reporting that it has already exceeded 70 percent of its 2025 domestic revenue target.
