Nearly a week after religious groups and rural women took to the streets to campaign against drug and alcohol abuse in Maryland County, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has taken decisive action to support the call.

On Wednesday morning, October 15, the LDEA Maryland County Detachment, headed by Commander Moses Birr, led a joint security operation accompanied by journalists to destroy several notorious drug hideouts, including the famous Green Forest and 504 Block in the Zone 4 Community area, as well as other major ghettos located along street corners in Pleebo.

According to him, although no illegal drugs were found during the raid, the team confiscated dozens of items believed to have been used or acquired through drug-related activities. The confiscated materials included mattresses, televisions, cooking utensils, and other household items.

Speaking to reporters after the operation, Commander Birr called on citizens to join the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, describing the issue as “not just harmful, but a national emergency” that demands collective action to protect the nation and its future generations from the devastating impact of narcotic substances.

He emphasized that under his leadership, no report of drug trafficking or abuse will go uninvestigated, reaffirming the LDEA’s commitment to maintaining a drug-free Maryland County.
