The Ministry of Labour has summoned the managements of Bao-CHI-CO and China Railway Development to a high-level conference.
The entities are invited to discuss critical issues relating to labour administration and workplace standards.
According to a release, the conference is scheduled for Monday, January 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Ministry.
According to separate communications issued by the Office of the Minister, Cooper W. Kruah, the meeting will address concerns regarding the companies’ alleged failure to fully comply with established procedures governing alien registration, acquisition of alien work permits for expatriate employees, as well as the employment and training of Liberian workers.
This, the release said, is in line with the Ministry’s Strategic and Business Plans.
The companies have also been requested to present copy of the Concession Agreement with the government; copies of all sub-contractual agreements with subcontractor companies; valid work permits for all expatriate staff employed; official flag receipts for all work permit payments made into government revenue accounts; list and payroll of all foreign staff; list and payroll of all Liberian staff; human resource policy manual and occupational health and safety policy.
Bao-CHI-CO is a mining company currently operating in Gbarpolu County, while China Railway Development, is responsible for the construction of a railway corridor in Gbarpolu, and a port facility in Bomi County.
