The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Richard Nagbe Koon, has constituted a Conference Committee to work with the senate.
The Committee is to harmonize the consolidated report of the Joint Public Accounts and Audit Committee on the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL).
The action was taken during the 7th Day Sitting of the First Quarter of the third Session of the 55th Legislature.
it was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Capitol Building in Monrovia.
It followed a formal communication from the senate.
In the communication, the Senate informed the House that after careful scrutiny of the consolidated report earlier transmitted for concurrence, it requested a Conference Committee to further synchronize the findings, particularly those arising from the General Auditing Commission (GAC) audit of the CBL.
The objective of the Conference Committee is to arrive at a unified position of the Legislature that would be acceptable to both chambers before the report is submitted to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.
The Senate named Senator Amara M. Konneh of Gbarplu County as chair of its Conference Committee, with members of the Senate’s Public Accounts Committee serving as members.
Upon presentation of the communication, according to a release, Koon announced the constitution of the House’s Conference Committee.
The committee is chaired by Public Accounts Committee Chairperson, Representative Clarence Gahr, with all members of the House’s Public Accounts Committee serving as members.
The Conference Committee is expected to engage in joint deliberations to resolve outstanding issues in the consolidated audit report, and ensure legislative consensus on matters relating to the CBL.
