Int’l Expert Visits PSA

Professional Sports Academy (PSA) is reportedly progressing in key forms and directions.

 The academy is owned by Alioune Kebe. It welcomed international expert in education and sports development, Arnaud Coutey over the weekend.

Kebe is the country’s Ambassador at-large for Youth and Sports Development.

Mr. Coutey very passionate about youth and sports development, paid a one-day practice visit at various practice sites of the PSA in Monrovia.

Impressed by the well-structured and organized setup, put in place by the staffs of PSA headed by Amb. Kebe, the expert while visiting the hand ball setup, motivated the young and determined players of the academy to be focused and passionate about what they do.

He encouraged the young handball players to also bring forth, some good ideas they have, which he as an expert, can modify to ensure that he turns them into meaningful support to improve their talents.

As part of his visit, Mr. Coutey, met with student coaches that are currently undergoing intensive training at the Liberia Football Association.

The training, headed by experienced coach instructor Kesselee Kanneh, informed his guest about progresses that they are making in the training of coaches in the country.

“We have coaches from Senegal, Nigeria, Liberia, who are passionate about the training,” Kanneh further informed Coutey.

In response, Mr. Coutey told the student coaches that he is in the country to work with the ministries of Youth and Sports, and Education to develop education and sports.

According to him, with sports, a lot of things can be done.

“I am curious and is here to listen to you people because, you people are on the field,” he added.

Mr. Coutey then encouraged actors in the sector to feel free and share their ideas, “because he has open-mind to work together with them.”

Additionally, he was in the country to develop a sports strategy that would improve the sector.

“I am an international expert in education and sports development with experience gained from working with UNESCO and UNICEF. I have vast knowledge and ideas about the sporting sector, but I need you all to share what you have with me and I will develop them properly to solicit needed funds to support these plans and ideas, he added.

The intensive and professional practice sessions conducted by experienced and trained PSA coaches, was witnessed by Mr. Coutey.

 The kids showed cases their talents to their guest.

The day- long visit featured handball, football and basketball respectively. Ambassador Bill Rogers was also part of the day- long session. He helped trained and motivated the kids during his session with them.

With bigger plans to improve and develop raw talents in the country, the PSA headed by Amb. Kebe, is gradually making impact in the sector.
