Maryland County authorities, in collaboration with the County Service Center, have declared Augustine Dugbeh, previously the county acting Commence Inspector as “unauthorized and illegal.”
The county has meanwhile, banned all functions assigned to Dugbeh. They cited “serious financial misconduct since his appointment.”
Through a press release the County Service Center issued over the weekend, through its coordinator, Edison K. Karmon, Sr., investigations revealed that Dugbeh had been engaged in “fraudulent practices.”
These included “extorting money from business owners; using falsified state security documents to intimidate businesspeople, and submitting fake monthly reports to the County Service Center.”
The statement said Dugbeh’s actions violated “Liberia’s Decentralization Framework, and the Revenue Sharing Law.”
As a result, authorities have warned all business owners, and operators in the county to stop any dealings with Dugbeh in the name of government function.
Henceforth, business registration, and other related transactions have now been assigned through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s official window at the County Service Center, where an official bill will be issued before payment is made at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA).
Meanwhile, the County Service Center, and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, have announced a rigorous inspection campaign to begin in October 2025.
The initiative will verify all business documentations and ensure compliance with national laws.
Attempts by the In Profile Daily newspaper to reach Dugbeh for a response to the allegations were unsuccessful.
Investigations into the matter continue.
