G/Kru Youth To Clasp 100 Gov’t Scholarships

By Emmanuel Koffa

Grand Kru County young people have been urged to take advantage of 100 scholarship slots recently announced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The offer was part of a nationwide initiative by the Ministry to boost education and skills development.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, April 8, during an interactive session Minister Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah held with various youth groups in Barclayville.

Kruah is currently touring the Southeast counties.

“These scholarships are not just opportunities, but are a call to action for our youth. I therefore urge all the young people in this county to make themselves available at any of the government-run universities and take full advantage of the programs.”

The scholarships, which will cover both academic and vocational training, are designed to equip beneficiaries with the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to socio-economic development.

Youth leaders in Barclayville described the program as a significant step to address long-standing educational and training challenges.

“This initiative gives hope to our youth. It encourages students who have faced financial barriers to step forward and pursue their dreams,” said a local youth representative.

Minister Kruah’s Southeast tour aims to engage young people directly, understands their challenges, and ensures government programs meet local needs.

Similar scholarship opportunities will be rolled out in other counties in the coming months.

Residents and youth groups say the program could transform prospects for Grand Kru’s youth, particularly those in rural communities where access to higher education has remained limited.
