The new leadership for Grand Kru County Technical College has been inducted into office.
The keynote speaker, Maxmixon Tokpah, underscored the importance of fundamental role agriculture plays in any economy, and in the lives of citizens.
Tokpah said agriculture is not only “the backbone of a country economy,” but also serves as “the heartbeat of survival” for many Liberians.
He highlighted the critical importance in feeding the nation, and supporting various industries.
Tokpah referred to the induction ceremony as a pivotal moment for reflection and renewal, underlining the collective effort required from leaders in education, and the community to cultivate a more robust and sustainable future.
He said while agriculture should be guided by intellect, and effort, it should equally resonate with passion and compassion.
Mr. Tokpah called on the leadership to regard Grand Kru Technical College as a frontline institution that offers educational opportunities to a diverse range of students, including first-generation college-goers, single parents, and lifelong learners.
He underscored the importance of inclusivity, and the responsibility that educators have in shaping the futures of these individuals.
Tokpah also challenged the newly elected faculty senate leadership to stay focused on their responsibilities, while extending commendations to the college’s Administration, and parents for their persistent support.
He called for a collaborative approach among faculty and administration, advocating for policies that would prioritize the interests of both students and educators.
Koffa Morris, the newly elected president of the faculty senate leadership, expressed his gratitude to both the college administration and his colleagues for entrusting him with the leadership role.
Morris highlighted the significance of constructive and respectful dialogue with the administration, adding that the faculty senate’s goal is to tackle critical issues impacting faculty and promote students’ rights.
He appealed to students to exhibit exemplary moral behavior, and called upon faculty senate members to unite in pursuit of their shared goals.
Those inducted into the newly formed faculty senate leadership team are Koffa S. Morris, President, Taylor Adada Vice President, Luther Matthew, Jr. Secretary-General and Melvin Nimene, Financial Secretary.
