“False And Misleading”

LAA Rejects Reports Of Security Breach At RIA

The Liberia Airport Authority (LAA) has officially refuted recent media reports suggesting that an individual identified as a “mad woman,” breached the perimeter fence of the Roberts International Airport (RIA).

The LAA, in a release, stated that the reports in its “entirety are not just unfounded, but appear to be part of a deliberate campaign to taint the good image of the current management of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA).”

Recently, some media outlets (Not The Inprofile) circulated a story claiming that an unauthorized person had managed to enter restricted areas of the airport, raising concerns about the safety and security protocols in place.

The report also alleged that “top managers at the LAA have procured pickup-vehicles for personal use.”

In response to the claims, the LAA management clarified: “We have not procured for ourselves any vehicle for personal use as was wrongly promulgated. These reports are completely fabricated, and we advised the public to disregard the publication.”

“Amidst these reports of misinformation, the LAA Management, headed by its Managing Director, Jero H. Mends-Cole, has demonstrated “unwavering commitment and dedication to enhancing airport operations and safety. Therefore, we remain focused on our mission to ensure the highest standards of security and efficiency at the RIA and will not be distracted by baseless allegations,’’ LAA added.

The LAA emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and outlined the steps taken to ensure the security of the facility.

The management disclosed that the airport security conducts regular patrols and perimeter surveillance in collaboration with national security agencies, and security remains a top priority.
