EU, Partners To Engage Journalists on Light Up South-East Program

The European Union (EU), in partnership with the Liberian Government, will host an intensive media engagement on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

According to a release, the exercise will bring together 24 journalists from Buchanan, Greenville, Sinoe and Barclayville n Grand Kru County.

The session will focus on the progress, milestones, and anticipated impacts of the Light Up South-East Liberia, a transformative energy initiative aimed at improving electricity access across South-Eastern Liberia.

Organized by In Profile Daily, Inc. (IPD), the engagement seeks to brief journalists on program status, implementation timelines, and measurable outcomes; strengthen collaboration among implementing partners, oversight bodies, media outlets; as well as provide a platform for questions, clarifications, and dialogue about the program scope, impact, and plans.

Participants include journalists from Grand Bassa, Sinoe, and Grand Kru counties, representatives from the EU Delegation to Liberia, the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP), the National Authorizing Office (NAO) the Rural Renewal Energy Agency (RREA), the Office of the Superintendent of Grand Bassa County, IPD as the Communication and Visibility Lead, and contractors from MBH Power Nigeria, Ltd, Constar, COLENCO, and ASACO.

The engagement will feature moderated questions and answers (QnA), and facilitated roundtable discussions.

The discussions, according to a release, are designed to encourage interactive dialogue, enhance understanding of program implementation, and strengthen media partnerships.

Participants are expected to arrive today, Wednesday, August 20, 2025, and departures for non-local attendees will take place on Friday, August 22, 2025.

This media engagement, the release said, reflects the EU and the government commitment to transparency, stakeholder collaboration, and effective communication, ensuring that the LUSE Program continues to deliver measurable socio-economic benefits and improved electricity access to the three cities in southeastern Liberia.
