The managing director of Liberia Medicines and Health Products Authority (LMHRA), Dr. Luke L. Bawo, on Tuesday, September 9, received an honorary recognition of his workings and contributions to Liberia’s pharmaceutical sector.
The honor was presented by a group under the banner, Citizens United for Better Liberia, in collaboration with the Liberia Media Network.
I behalf of the group, the president, Kesseley Barzah, praised Dr. Bawo’s strategic leadership, vision and relentless commitment to transforming country’s pharmaceutical landscape.
He said Dr. Bawo’s guidance has been crucial in implementing impactful regulatory reforms, improving access to safe medicines, and fostering an environment conducive to pharmaceutical innovation and quality assurance.
“Dr. Bawo’s leadership at LMHRA has been transformative, which have significantly elevated the standards of pharmaceutical regulation, reinforcing country’s dedication to public health and patient safety worst recognizing,” Barzah said.
Under Dr. Bawo’s stewardship,” he said, “there are developed initiatives to streamline drug registration, and inspection, improve quality assurance, and ensure adherence to international standards, thus reducing the current importation of substandard and falsified medicines.”
Barzah told the gathering that LMHRA recently organized clinical trials conference also prove his quest to ensure that Liberian get healthcare delivery they deserved.
Dr. Bawo, who expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment, credited his team and partners for their collective efforts in advancing Liberia’s health objectives.
He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening regulatory systems, expanding access to quality medicines, and ensuring sustainable development within the pharmaceutical sector.
“This recognition reflects the hard work, and collaboration of everyone at LMHRA and our health partners,” Dr. Bawo said.
The LMHRA is one of the building blocks of the health sector, and upon this backdrop, he continues to work along with the Ministry of Health ensuring citizens get the best healthcare services.
Dr.Bawo also said, healthcare delivery being one of the key aspects of building a strong nation, he has also helped the sector to recover from its threat over the years by strengthening functionary, including infrastructure, man-power development, and equipping laboratory.
