CMC Rejects UP’s ‘Proposal For Collaboration’

‎‎By Domingo Dargbeh

The Citizens Movement for Change (CMC), an opposition political party founded by Representative Musa Hasan Bility, has issued a strong rebuttal to comments made by the chairman of the ruling Unity Party (UP).

UP recently suggested that his party was open to engaging in talks with any emerging political movements.

‎In a statement released on Tuesday, CMC leaders characterized the UP-chairman remarks as “speculative and detached from reality,” noting that the ruling party has failed to grasp the fundamental reasons for the CMC formation.

‎The CMC was established as a response to the UP inability to tackle the pressing issues faced by Liberians. The movement highlighted concerns over systemic corruption, abuse of power, and an increasing disconnect between the government and the populace.

‎‎“Our movement is not about political posturing or backroom deals,” CMC said in a release, adding: “We are committed to fundamentally transforming Liberia’s political landscape.”

The leadership views any potential discussions with the ruling party as “a direct contradiction to our vision, sacrifices, and aspirations.‎”

In a pointed message directed at the UP chairman, the CMC stated: “Stop daydreaming and level up. Liberians have long woken, and parted ways with the UP. That reality cannot be changed by wishful thinking.”

‎according to an insider, this statement underscores the growing tensions in the country political arena as the CMC seeks to position itself as a formidable force against the established political order represented by the UP.
