Bong Co. Lawmaker Accused

By Samuel Flomo, Jr

A Facebook post by Bong County District #7 Representative, Foday Fahnbulleh, has sparked national outrage and condemnation, specifically, across the county.

In his Facebook post, Rep. Fahnbulleh wrote: “Say No To Drugs!!!  Support death penalty for importers of banned substance.”

Critics accused him of promoting “extra-judicial killings, rather than promoting law, order, and due process.” They insinuated that Rep. Fahnbulleh, has openly called for extra-judicial killings, a stance his critics widely condemned and described as “reckless, barbaric and unworthy of any national leader.”

John Molu, a resident in Gbarnga, described the lawmakers post as a “gross abuse of leadership,” questioning whether Fahnbulleh understands the constitution, and international law he swore to uphold? Mr. Molu argued that instead of strengthening legislation, supporting rehabilitation programs, and empowering law enforcement, Rep. Fahnbulleh is advocating for “jungle justice” that threatens to erode democracy and the rule of law.

Peter Juah, a resident of Foumah District, also questioned the lawmaker’s competence: “Is Rep. Fahnbulleh really educated? Which school did he graduate from?”

Such comments reflect widespread public skepticisms over Fahnbulleh’s judgment and ability to responsibly represent District #7.

Political analysts warn that Facebook posts like the one posted by Fahnbulleh exposes a glaring failure of his leadership.

“Instead of being a voice of reasoning, Fahnbulleh has allegedly chosen to promote fear and violence, undermining public confidence in elected officials, and the institutions they claim to serve,” another resident remarked.

As calls for accountability grow louder, analysts wonder whether: “a representative, who glorifies death over justice, legitimately lead the people of District #7?”
