Boakai Sends Bangalu To LRRRC

1…As Kruah Takes Over MYS

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has with immediate effect reassigned Jerror Cole Bangalu, a lawyer by profession, to Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), replacing Jackson Paye.

Boakai decision is one of strategic to expand and reposition the Commission to better respond to emerging national, regional, and global migration dynamics, in support of territorial integrity and national security framework.

The President’s action, according to a release, reflects a forward-looking effort to align the mandate of the LRRRC with the increasing complexity of cross-border movements, refugee management, returnee reintegration, and broader migration trends affecting the Mano River region and the West African sub-region.

In furtherance of this expanded mandate, Pres. Boakai has appointed Cllr. Bangalu, former Minister of Youth and Sports, as Executive Director of the LRRRC.

Bangalu’s appointment, the release said, is intended to strengthen operational leadership, enhance inter-agency coordination, and ensure the effective execution of the Commission’s broadened responsibilities.

The President notes that Liberia stands at a pivotal moment, shaped by rising regional migration pressures and the growing challenge of managing porous borders in a changing global environment.

These realities, the President said, require an institutional response that goes beyond traditional humanitarian coordination and contributes meaningfully to national preparedness, security planning, and migration management.

Accordingly, the LRRRC is being repositioned to play a more strategic role, including coordination on cross-border movements, engagement with relevant international and regional protocols, and contribution to Liberia’s overall national security and migration management architecture.

In another development, Pres. Boakai has nominated Attorney Cornelia W. Kruah as Minister of Youth and Sports.

Additionally, Jackson Paye has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA).

These nominations are subject to confirmation by the Senate, where applicable.
