Boakai Extends Condolences to Nigeria
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, has expressed heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Government, and the brotherly people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Pres. Boakai described the late Pres. Buhari as a towering figure whose decades of service to Nigeria and the African continent earned him both reverence and admiration.
He noted that the former Nigerian leader’s contributions to national unity, regional stability, and democratic governance left a lasting impact that transcends borders.
Further in his message to Pres. Tinubu, Boakai conveyed the deep sorrow of the Liberian people and Government, stating: “We mourn with our Nigerian brothers and sisters over this great loss as Pres. Buhari’s leadership—both as a military head of state and later as a democratically elected president—demonstrated his enduring commitment to Nigeria’s progress and the preservation of its dignity. His voice and vision will be missed on the African stage.”
Pres. Boakai also extended sympathy to the bereaved family of the late President and prayed for peace and strength during this difficult time.
As Liberia and Nigeria continue to share strong historical ties and mutual respect, Pres. Boakai expressed the country’s solidarity with the people of Nigeria in honoring the memory of one of their most consequential statesmen.
