Barry Unveils 2nd Legislative Report

Representative Rugie Yatu Barry of Montserrado County Electoral District #1, has presented in the 2025 annual legislative report to her constituents.

The second annual report was released during the district sitting on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Administration Building in Bentol City, Bensonville, Montserrado County.

The report on law making, captured the co-sponsorship of a bill seeking to establish the National Rehabilitation Commission (NRC).

If passed, the Center aims to address the growing threat of drug abuse, and another bill advocating for the inclusion, employment and protection of persons with disabilities.

During the district sitting, Rep. Barry spoke of transparency and accountability in her stewardship using a PowerPoint presentation to detail other legislative achievements, interventions, and development initiatives.

Rep. Barry said, engagements to include formal communication to the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) over poor network connectivity were discussed.

Other things presented took into consideration the Ministry of Mines and Energy mining restrictions in Benben Town, and the Ministry of Justice for police protection during land surveys in Caldwell, Louisiana, and Johnsonville Townships.

Legislative Oversight 

Rep. Barry spoke on development initiatives, signifying investments in education, youth empowerment, infrastructure and others.

Over 100 university students, she said, have benefited from scholarships with financial support to volunteer teachers and hundreds of grade school students in Todee and Careysburg districts.

She disclosed how over 180 young people participated in a three-month online training program in partnership with a U.S.-based institution, covering areas such as Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

The donation of 35 desks and a three-classroom extension to Intouch Public School in Philip Farm, Upper Careysburg.
