Tension and fear have gripped residents of the Lelekpayea Community in Gbarnga, Bong County after armed robbers raided a nearby residence.
The terror became eminent in the community following a violent armed robbery that took place in the early hours of Saturday, September 6, 2025.
The attackers targeted the residence of a local money exchanger, identified only as Otis, leaving him and his family severely flogged and traumatized.
According to a source closed to the victim, a group of unidentified assailants stormed Otis’ home, firing at doors and windows with locally manufactured short single-barrel guns.
The intruders reportedly forced their way inside the victim house, where they physically assaulted him and his children before making off with a substantial sum of money in both United States and Liberian currencies.
The attackers also vandalized property on the premises, shooting and deflating the tires of motorcycles parked in the yard.
They fled the scene moments before officers of the Liberian National Police arrived.
Up to press time last night (10:25 p.m.) there were no report of any arrest, thereby increasing fear in the minds of the community dwellers, while authorities continue investigating the incident.
