The 12th Judicial Circuit Court has officially opened its May Term of Court in Grand Kru County.

The opening set the stage for a new round of civil and criminal hearings amid renewed calls for public confidence in the justice system.

The ceremony brought together judicial officials, members of the legal community, local authorities, and citizens, as the court outlined its priorities for the term.

Resident Circuit Judge Peter Gbenewleh, emphasize the importance of strengthening public trust in the judiciary through adherence to due process, fairness, and impartiality in the handling of cases.

Judge Gbenewleh addressed the gathering through Judicial Channel 5. He stressed the need for the court to ensure that justice is delivered in line with the laws, without fear or favor.

He urged lawyers, litigants, and the general public to respect judicial procedures, and allow the courts to serve as the primary avenue for resolving disputes, warning against actions that could undermine peace and stability.

“The court exists to provide justice for all.”

Gbenewleh underscored the need for citizens to seek legal remedies through established judicial systems rather than taking matters into their own hands.

He further highlighted the role of the judiciary in protecting rights, promoting accountability, and maintaining social order.

The opening of the May Term officially signals the commencement of hearings for pending cases, with stakeholders expecting an active docket as the court addresses matters accumulated over previous terms.
