They included officers from the Liberia National Police (LNP) Region #5 Chief of Operations, representatives from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), LIS, Bureau of Corrections and other stakeholders.  Their objective, according to an insider, was to improve inter-agency coordination and respond more effectively to the suspected growing security concerns in Maryland County and its surroundings. This, one unnamed officer said, will ensure “around-the-clock surveillance” to deter “illegal border activities.” LDEA Commander Moses Birr meanwhile, urged residents along the borderlines to participate in public safety efforts, using social media platform to encourage the reporting of suspicious criminal activities in proximity communities. LNP Chief of Operations, J. Max Roberts for Region #5, lauded the collaborative effort as a significant step to curb crime.  “Strong collaboration among security agencies are key to reduce crime and ensure the safety of every resident in the county,” Roberts stated.

The joint security initiative is expected to increase efficiency in addressing cross-border crimes, trafficking, illegal migration, and other threats, while fostering trust between the community and law enforcement institutions.
