Saah Joseph Forms New Party, Leaves CDC

Having reached 28, the number of political parties in the country of 5.6 million populations, Saah Joseph, a Montserrado County Senator, has added to the list with a People’s Action Party (PAP).

Meanwhile, Sen. Joseph is set to officially leave the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) after nearly 20 years with the party ridding on the popularity of Mr. George Weah, a football legend.

Documents the Inprofile newspaper saw, confirmed that Sen. Joseph has already registered his People’s Action Party.

While the National Elections Commission (NEC) is yet to confirm the formation of the Saah Joseph PAP, a close ally of Mr. Joseph, a son of Lofa County, has confirmed the formation of the PAP.

Mr. Joseph has served as a CDC lawmaker since 2011, first as representative for District #13, and later elected Senator in 2020.

Sources at the NEC say the registration of PAP is almost complete, and an official announcement is expected soon.

Sen. Joseph is reportedly eyeing the 2029 presidential election to compete with his countryman, Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

Joseph’s decision to break away from CDC comes at a time when several top members have already resigned or publicly distanced themselves from the party.

 Political observers, including former Senator Milton Teahjay and ex-solicitor General Sayma Cephus, say CDC’s future looks uncertain.
