As part of effort to further improve the livelihood of residents, Sinoe County Electoral District #3, Representative Alex S. Noah on Tuesday, January 27, submitted to the House a proposed legislation, titled: “An Act to Establish the Juarzon Vocational and Technical College.”
The bill seeks to expand access to technical and vocational education in the county.
The aim is to enhance skills development, create employment opportunities, and build human capacity for the young people.
In his submission note, Rep. Noah said, the Juarzon District is the second established in the history of Liberia.
He said, it is now surrounded by four additional statutory districts, but yet lag behind with educational activity.
He added that the people of that area are also Liberians that deserve better education, especially vocational and technical training.
“My decision to submit this bill was trigger by the need of my people to seek higher education, especially vocational and technical training for the young people, who cannot afford to leave from the district to seek higher education elsewhere. If this act is passed, it will improve the living conditions of my people.”
Following the submission, the House mandated its Committees on Education and Public Administration, Ways, Means and Finance, and Judiciary to review it, and to submit a consolidated report with recommendations to the House for further legislative action.
The committees are expected to examine the legal, financial, and educational implications of the proposed institution and advise Plenary accordingly.
