G/Kru Receives Digital Boost

By Emmanuel Koffa

Two key institutions in Grand Kru County have received a major boost in digital connectivity.

This follows the installation of Starlink internet service the Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA) donated.

The initiative, implemented on behalf of NaFAA Director General, J. Cyrus Saygbe, was formally presented during a press conference held at the Administrative Building in Barclayville City on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The equipment was handed over through Grand Kru County Development Officer Joe M. Sekpeh.

The donation targets the Voice of Grand Kru radio station and the County Youth Center, both based in Barclayville.

These institutions are expected to benefit significantly from improved internet access after years of limited or unreliable connectivity in the county.

The introduction of Starlink satellite internet, developed by SpaceX, is expected to transform how information is shared in the county, particularly in remote communities where digital services have been difficult to access.

For the Voice of Grand Kru, the connection is expected to enhance broadcasting capacity, enabling consistent dissemination of news, public announcements, and emergency information.

At the County Youth Center, it is anticipated to support digital literacy, online education, and youth empowerment programs.

Officials said, the intervention is part of effort to bridge the digital divide affecting rural communities, where limited internet access has often restricted educational and economic opportunities.

Community stakeholders welcomed the donation, which they described as a step to modernize and improve access to information services.

NaFAA officials said, similar support initiatives may be extended to other rural institutions as part of ongoing development interventions.
