Rep. Dahn Seeks Repeal Of Public Health Law

In order to further reduce or abort the constant refusal of patients by health facilities due to sometimes financial inability, Montserrado District #7 Representative, Emmanuel Dahn, has communicated with the Plenary of the House of Representatives to repeal sections 26.11 and 50.9 of the Public Health Law of Liberia revised 2022.

Rep. Dahn notes: “I write through this medium to present to this Honorable body, an Act to

Repeal Sections 26.11 and 50.9 of the Public Health Law of Liberia as revised 2022.”

He said prime objective for the presentation of this Act (the Repeal sections 26.11 and 50. 9 as revised of 2022, is to abort the rampant refusal of patients at medical facilities due to financial incapacity.

Rep Dahn also emphasized that the bill aims to establish clear modalities for patients’ rights to receive treatment, with any deviation constituting an offense under the Public Health Law of Liberia.

He expressed hope that the swift and unanimous passage of the bill would restore hope among patients and strengthen public trust in the government’s commitment to healthcare service delivery.

Rep. Dahn also said: “It is my ardent hope that the passage of this Act unanimously and rapidly, will bestow hope a patient singularly, and unto our fellow compatriots severally; who elected us to serve them with efficiency and adequacy.”

Meanwhile, the communication was sent to the committee on Health and Judiciary to review and report on a proposed bill aimed at repealing Sections 26.11 and 50.9 of the Public Health Law of Liberia as revised.
