On Bea Mountain Chemical Spill:

EECAF Presses EPA To Release Findings

The Environmental Eyes Consultancy and Advocacy Firm Incorporated (EECAF), has intensified calls for transparency and accountability.

For that, the Firm has urged the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to immediately publish the full scientific investigative report into the ‘chemical spillage’ caused by Bea Mountain Mining Company into Marvoe Creek in Grand Cape Mount County.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, April 1, EECAF described the delay in publishing the comprehensive report as “unacceptable.”

It warned that continued silence over the matter undermines public confidence, and threatens both public health and the environment.

The advocacy institution noted that while the EPA released preliminary findings on February 27, 2026, and March 24, 2026, Liberians are still waiting for the complete scientific report detailing the extent of the damage caused by the spill.

“The people of Grand Cape Mount County deserve environmental justice. The continued silence on the full extent of the damage caused by this disaster is not only a betrayal of public trust, but a serious threat to public health and the environment,” EECAF said in the statement.

The group further said the environmental incident has sparked growing concerns among residents and stakeholders, especially communities whose livelihoods depend on the affected water source and surrounding ecosystems. According to EECAF, EPA failure to release the full report raises serious questions about transparency and accountability in handling the case.

“We will not stand idly by while the lives of innocent people are put at risk, and our ecosystems are destroyed without accountability,” the statement added.

EECAF has also demanded from the EPA to prioritize the health and well-being of citizens by making the full scientific findings public without further delay.

The organization also called on national authorities and international partners to closely monitor the situation and ensure that those found responsible are held accountable.

The statement further alleged that the chemical spillage has already resulted in the loss of innocent lives, making it imperative for immediate action to be taken.

“It is imperative that those responsible are held accountable. We urge the EPA and relevant authorities to take concrete steps to protect our environment and citizens,” the statement concluded.
