The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), has announced new charges on businesses.
The new fees include US$35 for motels, US$45 for radio stations, US$30 for video clubs, and US$40 for garages.
This comes just days after the Liberia National Police (LNP) raised similar fees for clearance, and the Revenue Authority increased GST to 13 percent.
With fuel prices also skyrocketing, analysts warn these measures will deepen hardship for ordinary Liberians.
For example, the LNFS newly approved fees for fire certificates are: commercial building construction permit US$100; fire firm certificate US$100; factory/industrial complex US$85; logging company US$85; hotels US$85; filling stations (large US$60.

Police Clarence Fee Increased
In a related development, Liberia National Police (LNP) in collaboration with the LRA, informs
the public that a new online system for police clearance will take effect as of May 1, 2026.
As a result of the new system, “new service fees will be charged.”
The approved fees for various services, include: job clearance: Liberians- regular: US$10, express: US$20; ECOWAS citizens regular: US$50; express US$100 and non-ECOWAS citizens regular US$150; express US$300; travel clearance: Liberians- regular: US$20; express: US$40; ECOWAS citizens
regular: US$50; express: US$100, and non-ECOWAS citizens regular: US$100; express: US$200; name check: Liberians regular: US$10; express US$20.
ECOWAS citizens regular: US$50; express: US$100;

As of May 1, 2026, the services will be available on the Liberia National
Police website at www.lnp.gov.lr.
