Marketers in the Jacob Town corridor of Paynesville City on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, went on the rampage as some of the street vendors reportedly attacked a couple of police officers assigned with the Paynesville City Corporation (PCC) in a gruesome manner.
PCC management has meanwhile, condemned the attack on those officers, who were executing their assigned lawful duty.
According to eyewitnesses, the city police officers were attacked while they attempted to enforce regulations against street vending in a prohibited area in Jacob Town along the Japanese Freeway.
According to reports, during the operation, a violent confrontation ensued with vendors resisting eviction.
The clash resulted in officer Junior Dahn being severely wounded, and currently hospitalized at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia. One of the officers’ condition is reported to be stable, but remains critical.
In the aftermath of the attack, five vendors have been arrested, and subsequently handed over to the Liberia National Police (LNP).
They are currently in custody at Zone 9 Base as investigations continue into the incident.
Meanwhile, the City government of Paynesville has pledged to ensure the safety of law enforcement personnel while maintaining order in the area.
PCC would also like to thank the authorities of the Liberian National Police for assisting in bringing calm and maintaining law and order in the area.
