In a recent announcement made during a live local radio talk show, Grand Kru County Senator Numene T.H. Bartekwa, disclosed how plans for the rehabilitation of key road corridors in the county have been formalized. Bartekwa said the rehabilitation project is to revitalize the transportation link between Kanweaken in River Gee County, and Buah Geeken in Grand Kru County, extending over a distance of 63 kilometers. He added that the initiative encompasses the stretch of road from Buah Geeken to Greenville, Sinoe County, which measures approximately 118.5 kilometers. “In total, the rehabilitation will cover an extensive 181.5 kilometers of vital roadway.” Bartekwa underscored the importance of the project, noting: “We want to ensure efficiency, and expedite the construction process, which are now strategically divided into four lots.” He said each lot will feature separate construction teams, allowing for simultaneous and fast work across different segments of the road.  Bartekwa: “This approach is intended to minimize delays, and facilitate a more streamlined rehabilitation process.” He said a significant aspect of the project will involve transitioning from temporary log bridges to durable concrete bridges along the entire route. “This upgrade is expected to enhance safety, and improve the overall quality of the road infrastructure, which is crucial for local communities, and economic development in the region.” Bartekwa said the government has contracted the Agency for Rural Development and Maintenance Services (ARDEMS, INC.) to spearhead the road rehabilitation project. “Their expertise in rural development is anticipated to play a key role in effectively executing this vital infrastructure upgrade, Sen. Bartekwa explained.” Meanwhile, Bartekwa’s announcement has been met with optimism by residents of the county, many of whom have long awaited improvements to their road networks. The successful completion of this project is expected to not only boost transportation efficiency, but also promote trade and mobility within the region, ultimately contributing to the socioeconomic development of the county, and its neighboring areas.
