The Chairman of the Louisiana Township Council, Dennis Moses Bolay, said the need to lobby at the Legislature to seek budgetary allotment and get fundings for development purposes is essential for local government.
According to him, the establishment of the Ministry of Local Government suggests that the government is now driving from centrally located administration to decentralizing government activities.
He mentioned that the passage of the Local Government Act supports the intent for the locals to run their own activities while central government provides oversight.
Mr. Bolay made the assertion following up with the deliberations of Montserrado County District #1 second annual legislative report.
During the recent district sitting in Bentol City when Representative Rugie Barry informed her constituents that there was no national budget for district development in 2025.
“Everyone who works wants to benefit their salary,” the Council Chair noted. Therefore, he indicated that what the lawmaker said that most of the development works are gesture of friends, vowing to push harder with her colleagues in the Legislature for towards local governance.
The Councilman also said what Rep. Barry has demonstrated over the years, shows transparency and responsible leadership by presenting evidence of development initiatives to the public.
