The Rural and Renewable Energy Agency (RREA), has made significant progress on the Barclayville Solar Mini-Grid.
The mini-grid is part of the broader Light Up South-East (LUSE) Project to expand sustainable electricity in the Southeast counties.
For years, residents of Grand Kru and other Southeastern counties faced limited access to electricity, affecting livelihoods, healthcare, education and businesses.
The Barclayville project, supported by the European Union, seeks to change that story by installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, battery storage system and a distribution network.
Once operational, the mini-grid will provide reliable electricity to 1,000 homes, schools, health facilities and businesses, thus boosting economic activity and improving the quality of life.
Similar initiatives are also underway in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County and Greenville in Sinoe County; reinforcing government’s commitment to inclusive regional development.
Current Progress:
Land clearing is now underway by Constar, marking the transition from planning to full-scale construction.
RREA assures that the project will be delivered as scheduled, meeting high standards of safety and efficiency.
Through the LUSE’s project, RREA is meanwhile, lighting communities; speeding up development and also transforming lives.
