Police Attributes Incident To ‘Illicit Mining’

Police officers assigned in Buah District, Grand Kru County, have investigated circumstances that reportedly surrounded the drowning of a 24-year-old Amos Parkpor.

Parkpor reportedly drowned on October 23, 2025, in a river, while on a mining exploration; an act, police described as “illegal mining activities in River Snoh.

The officers have meanwhile, turned Parkpor’s body to the family for burial, having ruled out foul play.

According to eyes witnesses, Parkpor and other miners have long since engaged in “illegal mining activities” in the county prior to the incident.

One account recalled how the victim reportedly drowned on a mining boat that belongs to one Philip Saah of Bolloh Weayan Jeayan on River Snoh.

River Snoh is located between Weayan and Juayan.

Meanwhile, Police in the county, on October 24, dispatched a team of officers led by Darpoe G. Karweah to the scene of the incident, about 2 to 3 hours walking distance from Buah District Headquarters.

According to Police investigation, when the team of LNP investigators arrived on the scene, they saw the deceased lying unconscious on an illegal mining boat in a black mining diving suit.

Police suspected no foul and therefore, turned the near decayed corpse to the family for burial.
