More than 90 security personnel assigned with Golden Veroleum Liberia (GVL) in Grand Kru County are reportedly facing dismissal.
The dismissal treat follows a dispute with the company over benefits and workers’ entitlements.
Information that emerged from a press conference held by the company’s Human Resources Office on April 1, 2026, revealed how the management has already prepared dismissal letters for about 90 members of the security department.
Sources said, the affected personnel are predominantly from Grand Kru County, and are being targeted after taking GVL management to court over concerns relating to their employment benefits.
The reported pending management’s decision, has sparked concern among workers and residents, with many questioning the fairness of the move, and whether it may be linked to the employees’ decision to seek legal redress.
Some of the workers believe the action could be seen as retaliatory, especially as the matter remains before court for redress.
“This raises serious labor and human rights concerns. Workers should not be punished for exercising their legal rights,” one source familiar with the issue said.
Efforts to obtain an official response from GVL management regarding the reported dismissals were not immediately successful as of press time late last night.
The development is expected to draw attention from labor authorities, civil society groups, and county stakeholders as the situation continues unfolding.
