The Ministry of Education has received a fresh boost as 33 ‘professionally trained’ teachers, who have graduated from the LICOSESS College of Education, Gbarnga Site.
The graduation ceremony, marked the institution’s 10th ‘C’ Certificate and 7th Associate of Arts (AA) Degree Commencement Convocation.
It brought together education stakeholders, government officials, community leaders and parents, who celebrated the graduates’ achievements.
The 33 individuals successfully completed various teacher training programs that prepared them for service in classrooms.
Among them, 19 obtained ‘C’ Certificates in General Education, while 14 earned Associate of Arts (AA) Degrees in Mathematics, Language Arts and General Science.
LICOSESS President, Dr. Benjamin Yele Wehye, charged the graduates to view teaching as a national responsibility, and to also uphold professionalism, integrity, discipline and excellence throughout their careers.
Dr. Wehye reminded the ‘new teachers’ of their role being critical to shape future as well as becoming positive examples in their schools and communities.
He also recognized the support of the Bong County leadership, particularly the Madam Suakoko Scholarship Committee for awarding 17 scholarships to the students.
He described the initiative as a meaningful investment in the future of education, and called for additional scholarship opportunities to support aspiring teachers.
Wehye meanwhile, appealed to government officials, development partners, and citizens to support the ongoing construction of the LICOSESS Gbarnga campus.
The guest speaker, Tormue Queminee, reminded the graduates that no society can develop without dedicated and committed teachers.
Queminee encouraged them to remain honest, professional, and ethical while carrying out their duties.
The graduation represents another milestone for LICOSESS as the institution continues its mission to produce qualified educators.
