Tragedy has struck David Dean Town in Kokoyah Statutory District, Bong County.

The incident has recorded the deaths of two “disadvantaged youths” with disrepute of the name “Zogos.”

They deceased were found in a nearby rubber bush; a location long known as a hideout for drug users and traffickers.

David Dean Town Chief, Sam Boimah, told reporters that the incident has exposed a worsening drug-related crisis in the community, reflecting the complete failure of government authorities to protect young lives.

Boimah said officers of Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) assigned to the area have overstayed without producing meaningful results, leaving drug traffickers free to operate with impunity.

Chief Boimah said “whenever arrests are made, the suspects are often released without prosecution.” The situation, he claimed has undermined the community effort to fight the escalating drug menace.

“By this, criminals are left wandering thus making residents to feel abandoned and helpless.”

Repeated attempts to reach the hierarchy of the LDEA in the county via phone and WhatsApp have failed, leaving the town without effective law enforcement or protection.

For this, Boimah warned: “unless urgent and decisive action is taken, more young lives will be lost to narcotics.”
