The Executive Director of InfoQuest Liberia Matthias Yeanay has termed as timely, decision by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai to suspend three officials at the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency.  It can be recalled on June  4, 2024 , President Boakai suspended Abraham Kromah, Hassan Fadiga and Gbawou Kowou , Director and Deputy for Operations and Administration, respectively.  The decision by the Liberian leader took immediate effect as of Tuesday evening, as the suspended officials are currently undergoing investigation without pay. Mr. Yeanay said President Boakai’s action  is not only timely but welcoming and a proactive sign of good leadership. However , he challenged the investigation team to conduct an impartial investigation to ensure that the root cause of the situation is identified and the matter  be brought  to its logical conclusion soon. “It is too early for such act especially by professional and senior law enforcement officers,  , he  cautioned. The InfoQuest head, at the same time, urged the Liberian leader to make open the outcomes and or findings of the investigation, including drastic action to would- be violator in order to serve as a good mark of transparency and openness in public service.  Mr. Yeanay reflected  that the situation that took place on June 3, 2024 at the LDEA’s office was not only worrisome but unprofessional and sends a negative signal about the country’s security sector to the outside world; especially at a time when the country is struggling to battle illicit drugs trafficking. He wants  law enforcement officers to be more professional in their operations and avoid politics or personal issues that do not mean well for the country. Yeanay stressed that as the rule of law is one of the pillars under the ARREST Agenda, it is key that those in such strategic sector of government  work in line with the dream and vision of it and not to the contrary.  Meanwhile, The InfoQuest  head used the occasion to call on the investigative team to speed up with the investigation  to ensure that the right actions are taken which will serve as a deterrence  in the future.
