Zorzor Residents Recommit To Unity, Development

Residents of Zorzor District in Lofa County have ended their 4th monthly general meeting in Monrovia with a renewed commitment to foster reconciliation, unity and development.

The well-attended meeting was hosted at the St. Paul Evangelical Compound, adjacent to Ma Kebeh Gas Station in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

It brough together a cross-section of traditional leaders, youth representatives, women’s groups, and professionals.

The meeting, held under the theme: “Unity in Diversity; Building a Peaceful and Progressive Zorzor,” focused on strengthening cooperation among citizens at home and abroad.

One of the major highlights of the gathering was the announcement of a District Reconciliation Conference scheduled for March, 2026, in Zorzor City.

The conference aims to heal divisions, strengthen peace efforts, and promote mutual cooperation among the residents.

On behalf of women, former Zorzor City Mayor, Madam Garmai Gbelee, led a large delegation of women.

Madam Gbelee appealed to the caucus to create a business loan program that would empower women to expand small businesses, and sustain their families.

“Our women are determined to lift Zorzor. With access to small business loans, we can do more to support our children’s education and progress in our district,” Madam Gbelee said.

Garbee Pewee, a senior citizen of Zorzor District, encouraged residents residing in Monrovia to stay connected, and contribute meaningfully to the district growth.

He reminded them that true development begins with collective responsibility and unity of purpose.

In his keynote remarks, the head of the Zorzor District Development Caucus, Tarnue L. Douwai, reaffirmed the leadership commitment to unite all sons and daughters of the district.

He underscored the importance of infrastructure development, particularly the need to rehabilitate feeder roads, schools and health facilities in Zorzor City.
