The Minister of Internal Affairs, Francis Nyumalin has announced that Chief ZanzanKarwor is no longer the Chief of the National Traditional Council of Chiefs and Elders of Liberia. Minister Nyumalin made the announcement in a brief press conference held recently at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. According to him, as part of their gathering in Ganta; in the coming days will be to comply with Chapter 3 of the Local Government Act of 2018 which talks about the establishment of the National Council of Chiefs of Liberia. He noted, the 15 Chairpersons of the County Council of Chiefs will elect their National Chairperson and other members National Council leadership of Chief and Elders during the gathering. However, Chief Karwor and his officers have announced their intention to defy this decision. Jonathan Cee, the Assistant to Chief Karwor, informed Ablee-Jay Media that Chief Karwor remains steadfast in his position and difies the Minister of Internal Affairs’ decision. Cee alleged that the Minister’s move contravenes the Local Government Act and asserted that Karwor and his team will continue their duties while preparing to challenge the Minister’s decision legally.
