Construction activities on the stalled annex of the C.B. Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital are set to resume, bringing renewed hope to residents who have long awaited the expansion of the major referral health facility.
The project, which is being undertaken by Sesay Brothers Construction Company, had previously been placed on hold after initial works began during the administration of former President George Manneh Weah and former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.
The delay raised concerns among citizens about the future of the much-needed annex.
However, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Ansu Sesay, has assured the public that all outstanding issues surrounding the project have been resolved and that construction will officially restart next week.
He disclosed that the company has secured the required building materials and equipment necessary to proceed with the work.
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, several construction materials were offloaded at the hospital compound, signaling the contractor’s readiness to return to the site.
Authorities at the Ministry of Health confirmed that the bottlenecks that previously hindered progress have now been addressed, clearing the way for full resumption of the project.
The hospital administration has pledged to closely monitor the construction process to ensure the work remains on schedule and meets expected standards.
Meanwhile, Hospital Administrator Enoch Kermue Darwolo Morris Sr. expressed appreciation to key government officials for their intervention and support.
He specifically commended Health Minister Louise M. Kpoto, Finance and Development Planning Minister Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, and Bong County Senator Prince Kermue Moye Sr. for their advocacy, which resulted in a budgetary allocation in the 2026 National Budget to advance the project.
Upon completion, the annex is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery by expanding space and improving the hospital’s capacity to treat more patients effectively.
