The famous Sycamore Tree which had over the years represented the political identity of the “Mighty Congress for Democratic Change (CDC),” eventually fell flat on the ground on Saturday, August 23, 2025, during an eviction action as mandated by the court.
The demolition action of key structures on the party compound, which simultaneously occurred during the sadistic process saw the disgraceful fall of the mighty sycamore tree, something which observers believe is a dent on the image of the George Weah-led CDC.
The fall of the sycamore tree, which had symbolically represented the headquarters of the opposition CDC, can safely be termed as a political blow to the party given that the fall of the tree had never occurred in the dream of most, if not all partisans of the party.
The night before the fall of the sycamore kingdom, some key executives of the party thunderously threatened to shake the nation and cause political havoc, but nothing like that happened.
The law enforcement arm of the court through the police authority at the same time, vowed to use the enforcement power through the law to evict the CDC and its sycamore tree, thanks for divine intervention.
And consistent with its vow the sycamore was forced to bow to the pressure of the law thereby forcing the CDC to also bow rather shamefully, disgracefully having boosted of political strength of coming back to power.
The question is why the sycamore tree has to bow? The masters of the sycamore have to flee and never resisted as per their threat?
It appeared that the masters of the sycamore tree thought power was any man’s inheritance, and that power was exclusively set aside for them. For nearly two decades, they planted the sycamore, watered the sycamore tree, maintained the sycamore tree, praised the sycamore tree, and boasted about the sycamore tree.
The lesson that should be learned by all politicians is that power swings like pendulum; power is no one’s inheritance. Power is like a Kru canoe, which could accidentally capsize in case it is manhandled. Power gives joy and happiness, yet it has the ability to also give sorrow and leave its users dishonorably in the wilderness.
Let it be known that in politics, the only recognized sycamore trees are the people to whom power belongs, and in whose interest, power is supposed to be used.
Although the sycamore tree has fallen, the fall of its masters, including the CDC executives, is the disgraceful one, and if care is not taken, could cripple the political future of the party. Until then, we express our deepest condolences to the CDC for the fall of the sycamore!!
