VP Office Staff Detained, But…

“. . . I mean anyone, connected to me by whatsoever means…who engages in drug-related activities will face the full weight of the law,” VP Koung.

In a developing story, authorities of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), have announced the arrest of Clifford Payne.

Suspects Payne is an employee assigned in the Office of Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung.

Though, VP Koung’s office is yet to speak to Payne’s arrest, the Agency, said, his detention stems from his alleged involvement in a drug-related case under “active investigation.”

Sources indicate that the arrest of Payne signals a significant escalation in efforts to address narcotics issues linked to high-level associations.

While officials have remained tight-lipped on specifics, experts suggest this case underscores growing concerns over “corruption and illicit networks within government circles.”

As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits further detail, raising questions about integrity and accountability at the heart of the country leadership. The nation watches closely as authorities aim to demonstrate their resolve against drug trafficking, and its entanglement with political power.

“My attention has been drawn to a video circulating on the internet involving a staff of the Group of 77 and officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA).

Let me state this with absolute clarity and without contradiction: Anyone, and I mean anyone, connected to me by whatsoever means, whether by blood, by marriage, by employment, or by friendship, who engages in drug-related activities will face the full weight of the law.

Whether it is my wife, my children, my siblings, or anyone linked to my office, the law will take its course without hesitation and without interference.”
